Performance and Support
Question: How is Brava's performance?
We continually earn high marks for our superior performance. Brava is configurable for each specific environment. Customers using mostly TIFF files need a different configuration than those viewing very large documents to optimize performance. And because Brava is very scalable, you can maintain excellent speed and performance without adding more hardware.
Question: Can Brava handle large documents efficiently?
Yes. Brava only downloads the current page so users don't have to wait for the entire document to load. Brava also displays a thumbnail view of each page so users can jump right to the page they need without searching through the entire document and waiting for each page viewed to download.
Question: Is Brava more scalable than competitive offerings?
The more the server does in a client/server solution, the fewer users it can handle. Competitive solutions process (stream) every client zoom, pan, layer change and print request on the server, requiring more resources per document and per user. The server must keep a session for each client, consuming significant memory. Brava Enterprise minimizes the processing load and memory consumption required by the server by letting the client handle most view changes. Brava Enterprise is deployed on some of the world's largest construction project collaboration sites and financial institutions because it handles large concurrent loads so well.
Question: Will I need additional hardware?
Because Brava is so scalable, it can handle more users with one server than competitive offerings. For document viewing, Brava requires access to one copy of the source application. Using the native application to generate the view of the document provides the most accurate display possible. The source applications may need to be installed on a dedicated machine.
Question: Do I have to install software on each user's machine?
No. There is even an automatic deployment method for Restricted Users.
Question: Is Brava customizable?
Yes, Brava can be customized for each environment. Easily remove toolbar buttons and menu commands, trigger custom scripts and events and achieve ideal performance for your file types.
Question: Does Brava use 3rd party components?
Yes, Brava does use some drivers from third parties who have proven themselves to be respected leaders for their respective formats. This allows us to focus on the formats we do best, features, speed and performance. It also allows us to support more formats and to keep up with new versions faster than many of our competitors.
